Mega Man-Style Beam VFX Recreated In Unreal Engine 5

Gregory Silva also added a nice CRT effect.

Senior VFX Artist Gregory Silva shared a personal study where he recreated an originally 2D effect in Unreal Engine 5 along with a CRT shader to give it an old-school look.

The animation is set up in Niagara, with elements like distance traveled, speed, and timing controlled through user parameters. Here it is without the CRT effect:

It's inspired by Mega Man games, likely from the PS1 era. You can find more details about the project, including the references used, here.
