Meshy Wants AI to Feel Less Like a Prompt and More Like a Creative Partner

Yet many AI tools still operate like vending machines in which you write a prompt, receive one model, adjust the prompt, and start over again.

As of July 2026, Meshy says more than 12 million registered users have generated over 100 million 3D models through its platform, which SimilarWeb ranks as the top platform in its category by web traffic. The company has just closed a $400 million Series B round, valuing it at $1.5 billion.
The company has opened its new Meshy 3D Agent Beta to all users, introducing what it describes as the first fully conversational, multi-step AI agent built specifically for 3D creation.
Instead of treating every prompt as an isolated request, the system maintains context across an ongoing conversation, allowing creators to brainstorm concepts, refine ideas, generate batches of related game assets, and ultimately convert selected concepts into textured 3D models—all within a single chat.
Rather than asking artists to repeatedly restart the creative process, Meshy positions the agent as a collaborator capable of carrying creative intent from initial brainstorming through early asset production.
For game developers, that distinction becomes particularly relevant when building collections of environmental assets rather than individual hero props.
Imagine an indie team needing a dozen cyberpunk street props before the end of the week. Traditional one-shot generation often produces twelve different visual styles that require significant manual correction before they belong together. Meshy's approach instead allows creators to establish an art direction conversationally, then generate an entire family of stylistically consistent assets from that shared context.
The goal isn't simply faster generation, it's reducing one of the more repetitive parts of early asset production while leaving artistic decision-making firmly in the hands of creators.
That philosophy also shapes where Meshy sees the technology fitting into existing pipelines.
Rather than presenting AI as a replacement for professional artists, the company positions the 3D Agent as most valuable during concept exploration, environment ideation, background props, and generating usable starting points. Artists still retain responsibility for hero assets, final detailing, topology refinement, and the creative judgment that defines production-quality work.
From there, generated assets can be exported in a wide variety of industry-standard formats, including GLB, FBX, OBJ, USDZ, BLEND, STL, 3MF, and DXF, for use across Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, Unreal Engine, Unity, Godot, Roblox, and other production pipelines.
The flexibility of supported inputs follows the same philosophy. Rather than relying exclusively on text prompts, the system accepts sketches, reference photography, or even rough ideas as starting points before carrying those concepts through multiple rounds of refinement inside the same conversation.
Meshy says this conversational workflow also opens the door for additional production tasks beyond model generation. The company has already begun rolling out in-chat rigging and animation features for generated characters, further extending the idea of an AI assistant that remains present throughout multiple stages of early production rather than disappearing after a single generation pass.
The release also marks a broader shift in how generative AI may fit into professional game art pipelines.
Over the past several years, discussions around AI-assisted content creation have largely centered on output quality. Meshy instead argues that workflow itself deserves equal attention. By preserving conversational context, maintaining stylistic consistency across asset sets, and supporting iterative creative exploration, the company hopes to reduce friction at the front end of production without replacing the expertise that still defines finished game art.
For many studios, that may prove to be the more meaningful evolution—not asking AI to create an entire game asset, but allowing it to handle the repetitive groundwork while artists remain in control of craft, direction, and final quality.
