The year is ending, and Microsoft has decided to reflect on its achievements as well as share what's to come.
In 2025, Windows 11 gaming "became faster, more portable and more visually immersive," and the company is not planning to stop, aiming to make the platform even better for players.
"We’re committed to making Windows the best place to play, and we will continue refining system behaviors that matter most to gaming: background workload management, power and scheduling improvements, graphics stack optimizations, and updated drivers."
So what's ahead? Xbox full screen experience (FSE) will be coming to more Windows devices, not only handhelds, and it's already available in preview for Windows and Xbox Insiders. This environment offers a "controller-first interface for navigation, intuitive game launching and minimized distractions on any PC."
Moreover, Advanced Shader Delivery (ASD), which preloads game shaders during download, will be supported by more games on the ROG Xbox Ally as well as other hardware and storefronts.
Then we have Auto Super Resolution (Auto SR), an OS-level AI upscaling feature, which will be available in public preview to the ROG Xbox Ally X, running on AMD’s Ryzen AI NPU, in early 2026.
There will probably be other Windows changes, and I bet we all know their nature, as the company is invested in its AI tools, even though it is reportedly struggling to sell them to its enterprise clients.
