Midgard: A God of War-Inspired 3D Environment Made With Unreal Engine

The scene was made by Daniel Hinckley to learn more about rock asset creation and sculpting.

Have a look at Midgard, a highly-detailed 3D game environment with strong Scandinavian vibes created by 3D Environment Artist at Playground Games Daniel Hinckley.

Inspired by God of War and Jannes Ennen's Isolated Island Hut project, the scene was made to learn more about rock asset creation and sculpting, as well as scene composition, storytelling, prop creation, and ground cover foliage. According to the project's description, the author utilized ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter/Designer, Megascans, which was used for fern and bush foliage assets, SpeedTree, and Unreal Engine to set up the environment.

"I originally started working on this as a study shortly after finishing university, but shelved the project due to burnout at the time," commented Daniel. "I tailored it towards improving my sculpting, specifically rock asset creation, with the intention of using this as a launchpad to further specialize in this area of environment art. I created a sculpts post separately, which showcases some of the rock assets I created for this project."
