No GenAI: This Blender Add-On Turns Simple Sketches Into 3D Poses
Sketch2Pose just got a new update.
Sketch2Pose is a Blender add-on that lets you draw a simple stick figure and instantly turn it into a 3D pose. Developer proNano released it a few months ago, and the idea quickly caught on with the Blender community. After lots of feedback, they've added many requested changes and improvements in this new version, which supports multiple camera angles.
Sketch2Pose is built to help artists get through the blocking stage faster. The developer also points out that Sketch2Pose isn't meant to replace the artist, and it doesn't use generative AI, it's all "based on code, math, and custom solvers". You'll still need to make adjustments to get the pose exactly how you want it.
The workflow is simple: draw your stickman, click Convert, and the pose is generated. The add-on has been successfully tested with custom humanoid rigs, as well as Mixamo and Rigify rigs. Next, proNano plans to make it compatible with hands and facial expressions.
"It was one of the biggest and most complex projects of my programming career, and I loved every second of developing it and learning from the process.
Today, Sketch2Pose is already being used by animators who embraced the idea, and I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make that possible. The add-on already has many advanced tools, and I plan to keep developing it further and listening to community feedback, including yours!"
