This uncommon version of the folklore creature was brought to life using Blender, ZBrush, and Substance 3D Painter.
What you see in the GIF above is not a tin can springing to life but rather an incredible reimagining of a dwarf produced by Juan Hernández, a talented Character/Visual Development Artist specializing in non-photorealistic characters.
Based on Simon Lenz's redesign, Juan's dwarf is unlike any other depiction of this familiar folklore creature, having little in common with the bulky, short humans we usually imagine them as. According to the artist, the creature model was set up using Blender, ZBrush, and Substance 3D Painter, with the main challenge being to ensure the dwarf's ability to transform into his jar-like form seamlessly while maintaining coherence across all of his components.
