Play as a Canine Paranormal Special Agent in This Roguelite Reminiscent of FNAF

Your name is now Doug Barker, and you need to survive a train ride across Antarctica with numerous monsters on board.

Fright Train is a single-player, third-person roguelite where you must survive a train ride across Antarctica with numerous monsters on board. Rusty robot monsters with glowing red eyes are after you as you're trying to keep the hell train running – otherwise, it stops in the middle of the ice-cold nowhere, and everyone freezes to death.

The character you play as, Doug Barker, is a paranormal special agent. In the game, you crawl through a procedurally generated train, where you get to collect resources, unlock new cars, and explore new rooms. You have to be alert at all times, though, because new enemies keep emerging all the time and the train reconfigures itself before you figure out what to do next.

The game has pretty neat mechanics that create a more realistic feel. First, the items in your inventory are not the same: depending on where they are on the character's body, you can fetch them quickly or lose time dragging them out of your back pocket.

Plus, the combat system has its quirks. Your enemies might support or sabotage each other, changing the dynamics of your battles entirely. You can also study your enemies' weak points to make your attacks more efficient. Careful, some of them have armor, so fighting them might turn out to be way harder than expected.

WildArts began developing Fright Train right after the release of their psychological survival horror Caput Mortum, back in August 2025. As the developers noted, both titles were developed by the same independent two-person team – Nicolas Lamarche and Gabriel Bolduc Dufour. Today, they are releasing the game on Steam

"Our goal is to walk the line between cute and horror, retro and modern. We aim to make the presentation approachable, while surprising and delighting players with moments of tension. We’ve chosen a stylized approach that harkens back to early 3D models while leveraging modern dynamic lighting. It also benefits from our strengths as developers: fun characters and great atmosphere," the developers stated.
