Procedurally Generated Cloak with Adjustable Folds for Hornet's Rig
Krysidian showed further work on the setup.
3D Artist Krysidian continues working on the Blender rig of Hornet from Hollow Knight: Silksong and unveils a new feature of the setup: a cloak visualized using Geometry Nodes.
As the artist explained, the cloak is a cone that's rigged traditionally, and the flowing movement of fabric is controlled with Geometry Nodes. The toolset generates the folds and allows for more flexibility. Procedurally generated fold rotation and twist work together with the manual rig. The cloak setup is highly controllable, as its length and fold number can be adjusted.
Before, Krysidian showcased a segmentation system for Blender, which allows for adding joints and adjusting them for any mesh, also used in crafting Hornet's rig:
