According to anonymous sources and reported by both infamous leaker NateTheHate and corroborated by Video Games Chronicle separately, Nintendo has some huge unannounced games coming this year for Switch 2.
Reportedly, both a full-on remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is planned for Switch 2 to coincide with the franchise's 40th anniversary in 2026 and, presumably, to help hype the brand leading into the live-action film's release next year in May 2027.
Additionally, Nintendo is also preparing to reveal a brand-new Star Fox title this year, which is once again likely in an effort to hype the character leading up to his inclusion in the Super Mario Galaxy movie next year, premiering in April of this year.
Usually, it's a good idea to take unverified rumors with a grain of salt, but this one could have more validity than usual. Firstly, NateTheHate has a proven track record of revealing information ahead of time with accuracy in the past, and the timing lines up from a marketing perspective.
It also helps explain why, despite Zelda's 40th anniversary being this year, Nintendo has remained silent. If they're cooking up a remake of the series' most beloved title, the silence is no longer bizarre.
Time will tell if these rumors are true or not. Personally, I hope so. I've been waiting for a new Star Fox game for years, as I'm a huge fan of Star Fox Assault back on the GameCube.
