Scoped Walther G43 Rifle Model Made With Blender & Substance 3D Painter

Weapon Artist Adrien Roose continues the series of highly-detailed digital armaments with Walther G43, a realistic-looking 3D recreation of the Gewehr 43, a.k.a. Karabiner 43, semi-automatic rifle, designed by Walther and mass-produced in Germany during the Second World War.

According to the creator, the asset was modeled in Blender, textured in Substance 3D Painter, and rendered with Marmoset Toolbag 3 without global illumination. The goal of the project was to experiment with texturing approaches and "achieve the effect of heavily damaged, abandoned weaponry".

The author has also commented on how the rifle's scope was textured, saying that "the scope consists of two texture sets – mount 2k1 and the cylinder has a relatively low resolution of 1k1. Gun pieces are from 1k1 to 2k2 resolution."
