Sony's Patent Suggests Old Peripherals Might Compatible with New PlayStation Consoles

Seems like Sony is working on making legacy PlayStation peripherals compatible with modern hardware. A patent filed by Sony Interactive Entertainment on June 30 called "Systems and Methods For Converting A Legacy Code Into An Updated Code" shows a video game emulation process that Sony might use in the future. 

The curious part is an image that outlines methods to emulate software that used old PlayStation peripherals like DualShock, a Sony Media Remote, a PlayStation Mouse, an EyeToy, a PlayStation Move wand, and a memory card.

The appearance of PS3-era peripherals in the text might mean the company is either working on making them compatible with PlayStation 5 or just trying to emulate their functionality in software.

Whatever the case, the patent is quite interesting as most of the devices shown in the diagram are not available for purchase now.
