Spider-Verse Animator Showed Her Reference Technique
20 May, 2019

How do animators set up facial animation? What do they use as references? Emma Shih, one of the many amazing animators behind the animation of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, showed how the dealt with her scenes.

The talented artist has recently shared a cool video featuring her reference work. It demonstrates the live-action materials she used to set up her scenes. Her reference turned out to be herself, and it’s actually a quite popular decision

The video shows how Shih became a part of the iconic diner scene, and how she portrayed Gwen Stacy. Sometimes the best decision is to do something strange alone in a room.

Also, check out her animation reel:

Discuss the story and share other useful techniques for references in the comments.
