Created by Franco Diego based on Juan Diego Leon's 2D illustration.
Franco Diego, a Character Artist at Collider Craftworks specializing in stylized character models, has paid tribute to the legendary Pokémon franchise by unveiling an incredible NPR take on Ivysaur, the evolved form of Bulbasaur, set up in 3D.
Inspired by an original 2D Ivysaur illustration by Juan Diego Leon, the idea for the project came from an internal challenge between Franco colleagues, described by the author as "the perfect motivation to step out of the routine and try something different." To set up the model, the artist utilized ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter, Maya, Arnold, and Marmoset Toolbag.
If you would like to learn more about Franco's approach to character creation, we highly recommend checking out our 2024 interview with the artist, where he explained his working process behind the stylized Donatello 3D model, inspired by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and brought to life with ZBrush, Maya, and Substance 3D Painter.
