The developer shared details on the anticipated release.
Team Cherry, the developers of the upcoming sequel to the beloved gothic 2D metroidvania Hollow Knight, has confirmed the game's price and shared details on its release time, which is scheduled for September 4.
Hollow Knight: Silksong will be priced at $19.99 in the US, €19.99 in Europe, and ¥ 2,300 in Japan. The launch time will vary by region:
- 7AM PT
- 10AM ET
- 4PM CEST
- 11PM JST
That price is impressively affordable for such a highly anticipated release, and it aligns with a recent report showing most PC gamers prefer titles that cost under $20. Valve's own Steam statistics also back up this trend, revealing that in the past four years, more than half of the platform's most successful paid games launched under $50, with nearly a quarter under $30, which confirms that games can succeed no matter their price.

Silksong is releasing eight years after the previous game, which has been a long wait for the fans. Recently, the game's creators shared that the development was "never stuck" and that they consider expanding the story.
The sequel will focus on the story of Hornet, the Princess Knight, tasked to escape an unfamiliar kingdom ruled by silk and song, with new lands, powers, mighty enemies, and secrets.
