"It's like seeing my brain in a big screen anime."
The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime was released on Netflix just a couple of days ago and already received numerous positive reviews. The original creator of the Cyberpunk universe Mike Pondsmith also expressed his approval saying the team behind the anime "nailed it."
"It's like seeing my brain in a big screen anime," he said on Reddit, and is there higher praise? He added that he and R. Talsorian Games, the publisher of the original tabletop game, have been waiting to say it for a long time: "We've (RTG) been sitting on this for months, unable to share it with you all. Now you know."
Pondsmith has been involved "in the entire Cyberpunk process" from the start. He said that working side by side with CD PROJEKT RED helped get "a consistent feel, look and history from 2020 to RED to 2077 to Edgerunners."
The 10-episode anime Edgerunners tells the story of a street kid David trying to survive in Night City. Having everything to lose, he stays alive by becoming an edgerunner – a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.
