This 3D Mermaid Looks Very Enchanting and Powerful
It's another amazing character made by Rina Smorodina.
Rina Smorodina shared on her social media the Mermaid of the Cursed Sea character she made.
The artist explained that she created this character for the annual MerMay challenge. She textured it in Substance 3D Painter and learned how to use bone constraints to fake the fin physics.
Check out how the concept changed at the beginning:
For Smorodina, the low-poly is a stage that allows her to see the importance of every change in the model.
The character looks like it could be part of a dark fantasy story, with a lot of mysticism, like the curse of the sea has reached the creatures that live there.
The details in the armor and the helmet make me imagine the mermaid as an ancient guardian or soldier.
Check out some images of the topology, phases of the blockout, and the creation process of the harpon.
Smorodina has also shared on her Twitter/X account some animation tests like these ones:
Take a look at this knight from the Knapweed Order, also made by Rina Smorodina, that we shared a few months ago. This character catches people's attention with her big, sad eyes.
You can also check out this other mermaid created by Juan Hernández that we shared in the past. This one has a completely different style, but looks very interesting, too.
