This Pixel-Art Sci-Fi JRPG Has Absolutely Phenomenal Art Style

Stillsun Ark looks very promising.

Shinra Software has shared the first look at Stillsun Ark, a JRPG where a shipwrecked crew must survive on a planet as wondrous as it is deadly. The color palette looks gorgeous, and the character lineup is giving off some serious Breath of Fire vibes. It also feels like Chrono Trigger dropped into a sci-fi setting, or like Sea of Stars with a cast of characters straight out of Cowboy Bebop. That's some very refreshing '90s anime-esque art direction.

Sadly, there's no gameplay so far, but a few screenshots are available on the game's Steam page:

Stillsun Ark is about a journey through a beautiful world that reshapes everyone caught in it. After a cargo ship and the pirates attacking it crash on the same world, former enemies are forced to work together to find a way home.

The planet's strange parasites can bond with their bodies and minds, giving them new abilities. Players can transform between different forms during battles to exploit enemy weaknesses.

Shinra Software plans to support as many languages as realistically possible, but the game won't feature voice acting. Aseprite is used for the pixel art and animations, while the game is being developed in Unity. The Lead Pixel Artist is Arfu, while PixelTheWise serves as the Lead Pixel Art Animator:
