This Warping 3D Portal Made for Game Is Actually Illusion

Juancho Abad shows that "gamedev is a lie."

Juancho Abad, a game developer from Whale Peak Games, showed how the travel transition resembling a swirly portal made for their game Go Mecha Ball is not what it seems. Instead of some kind of elaborate setup, it's just "a horn-shaped mesh spinning or scaling."

"Proof #256 that gamedev is a lie," he said, and if you read 80 Level regularly, you know he's right.

And it's true not only for games. Even big studios, like Pixar and Walt Disney Animation, use some tricks to make sure the final image is perfect. This often means it is hilarious from some angles, but it's the result that matters.
