Tiny Glade-Inspired Diorama Builder With Interactive Water

Check out KingCakeTheFruity's progress on Waterfalls Dream.

Max Gorishniy, also known as KingCakeTheFruity on Reddit, is developing a really cool diorama-building game centered around waterfalls and nature. It takes inspiration from Tiny Glade and Townscaper, but with realistic water as the main focus. The project's working title is Waterfalls Dream.

You'll be able to shape the cliffs and terrain and then watch the water flow through the landscape, following the paths you create. The demo above shows a 3D voxel world with water physics and real-time editing.

Here's a preview of what you can build in just 10-20 minutes:

According to the developer, it's a PB-MPM water and aerated foam simulation running on the same velocity grid. He plans to open-source it once it's ready.

"Currently, it can withhold a 350K particle simulation + rendering from any camera position at 120 FPS on a Mac M5 Pro with 24 GB. So it's quite optimized now. In terms of memory usage – a very low amount, I believe, like under 20MB, as the particle data itself is very simple, so the bottleneck is always computation, not storage."

If you want to keep up with the project, you can join the official Discord server.

For those interested in Godot water, we recommend checking out Emil J's tutorials, as well as projects like this Sea of Thieves-inspired one and this one featuring whirlpools for some inspiration.
