Technical Artist Simon Verstraete has recently shared a brand-new tutorial, explaining how to set up the fluid orb UI effect, which can be used to create Diablo-style health/mana bars for a game, using a combination of Houdini, Substance 3D Designer, and Unreal Engine 5.
In this tutorial, Simon demonstrated how to use Houdini to make the fluid geometry and bake it into a texture flipbook, explained how to control the texture sizes and pack textures into one with Designer, showed how to make a material and set up the fluid effect in UE5, and shared multiple tips and tricks along the way. Furthermore, the artist has also released the project files behind the effect, which can be purchased here.
