Tutorial: Real-Time Caustics In Blender 5.1's Cycles
Alan Wayne shared his approach to creating water and glass effects.
Caustics are fairly complex to achieve and render quickly. However, you may want to try Alan Wayne's method for creating a realistic caustics shader, which works in Blender's Cycles.
The video tutorial begins with the fundamentals, so if you're already familiar with them, you can skip ahead to the section where the artist builds a basic shader. After that, he experiments with procedural textures and finally explains how to expand the original shader into a more advanced setup that produces detailed caustics. The shader is also available for free on Alan's Patreon.
