Tutorial: Texturing and Rendering Game-Ready Characters

Otas Tumelies, in collaboration with FastTrack Tutorials, published the second part of the AAA Game Character Creation course, covering retopology, texturing, and rendering.

In case you missed it, back in August 2022, FastTrack Tutorials published a comprehensive 13-hour character creation course, covering the blockout and sculpting stages, cloth simulation, skin detailing, high poly creation, hair creation, and many other topics.

Seven months later, the team has finally launched the long-awaited continuation of the course, created in collaboration with 3D Character Artist Otas Tumelies, that covers the retopology, texturing, and rendering stages of the AAA character art workflow.

Featuring 90+ hours of educational content, the new series of tutorials continues the previously mentioned first part, walking you explaining the retopology process, UV unwrapping, texture baking, texturing, hair card generation, placement, posing, and rendering in 3ds Max, Blender, Substance 3D Painter, and Marmoset Toolbag.

"This game art tutorial is designed for students who have some experience with 3D modeling tools like 3ds Max, Substance 3D Designer/Painter, and Blender," noted the team. "While we will explain everything in detail, if you've never used any modeling or texturing tools before, we recommend that you first watch an introductory tutorial on those programs."
