Tutorial: UVs for Beginners in Maya

FlippedNormals did a short tutorial for newcomers, who want to learn the intricate science of unwrapping.

Yesterday we’ve reported about a new awesome tool, which will take the job of unwrapping from the hands of the artists an let the AI handle it. But until this tool is still in development, you’ll need to work out how UVs work yourself. For newcomers to this job FlippedNormals launched a short 18-minute tutorial. It basically shows you how to unwrap a human head in Maya.

In this Maya tutorial, we show you how to get started with UV mapping in Maya 2018. You’ll learn the very basics with UV mapping and you’ll be ready to UV map your own characters. In the future, we’ll cover more advanced UV mapping topics, such as UDIMs, conventions, etc.
