A Ledge Climbing System Made in Unreal Engine

Solo Developer Devon continues adding new features to the upcoming RPG Elements.

In case you missed it, Solo Developer Devon is currently working on a 3rd-person, open-world RPG called Elements. According to the developer, the game will be centered around two siblings fulfilling their destiny and searching for 8 Elemental Stones in a fantastical open world. The game has strong Zelda BotW, Witcher 3, Pokemon, and Minecraft vibes and is promised to be perfect for RPG connoisseurs.

Devon also shares the game's progression via Twitter, telling the audience about new features that are implemented to Elements. Recently, the developer added a great ledge climbing system that is inspired by and combines similar systems from such games as Assassin's Creed, Tomb Raider, and Zelda BotW. Much like the rest of the game, the system was set up in Unreal Engine 4.

"Not every wall will be climbable, only certain surfaces," comments Devon. "So if you find a wall you can't climb you may still be able to find some ledges to grab and climb. These ledges could also be activated after certain events for puzzles."

Here are some more behind-the-scenes posts, shared by the developer:

Quite a useless article if there's no reference to being able to use or purchase the described system... unless I somehow stumbled upon a gamer website rather than a game dev, then it's entirely my own fault
