Abcent Studios, a creative duo of animators, shared its debut project – an animated film titled Rise. The cinematic project was crafted entirely within Blender. It's fascinating what 3D artists can craft, especially with free software – of course, the Oscar-winning film Flow has already highlighted the capabilities of 3D artists and Blender software, but each new project is impressive as well.

The artists from Abcent Studios said Rise was a passion project meant to test the limits of their artistic capabilities. The narrative follows Corrin, a bold warrior exploring the ruins of a long-abandoned valley town in search of a gem to power her sword. However, while her search starts out well, it also wakes up the golem that destroyed the town.

The film features a high-quality look, with complex camera work and smooth animation. The graphics combine an amazing painterly-style 3D world, reminiscent of Arcane and Mixtape, with 2D-like VFX, creating a complex, multi-layered visual impression.
