Tyler Smith showed this amazing work and explained how he created it.
3D Artist Tyler Smith delighted the audience with a new great stylized setup, this time showing appealing VFX crafted with Unreal Engine 5. The artist animated a pod of dolphins jumping gracefully in a foamy ocean, complete with atmospheric soft and somber colors of the scene.
Tyler Smith explained the main steps of his workflow, sharing that he started with started by animating the dolphin mesh with a curve path and damp constraints in Blender. After that, the artist split the animation into three parts based on the animals' movements: the swim to breach, breach to dive, and dive to swim frames. The following step was to bake the animation sequences into vert animation particle meshes. Then the creator completed the final steps using Niagara.
Besides UE5, the artist used Blender, ZBrush, and Substance 3D Painter. Have a closer look at the setup:
Earlier, Tyler Smith unveiled many wonderful stylized scenes depicting beautiful nature settings, such as this recreation of a Mangrove Forest Reef, a conifer forest landscape, a Pacific Northwest forest, and more:
