How NVIDIA Worked on Textures for Marbles RTX Demo

The NVIDIA team did an interview with the Magazine by Substance and shared its texturing approach in Substance tools for the Marbles RTX Demo.

Senior art director Gavriil Klimov and lead environment artist Jacob Norris from NVIDIA dived into the team’s workflow for Marbles RTX Demo.

Some details from the interview:

  • The team members discussed the collaboration platform Omniverse they relied on to build a sufficient team’s communication while creating.
  • Gavriil gave a detailed explanation of the chosen art direction for the demo, talked about references, the main theme of the project, and the pre-production process.
  • Gavriil and Jacob shared the Substance Painter workflow for achieving high-quality hyperrealistic materials.
  • Jacob also shared UV tips for applying directional textures in Substance Designer and did a breakdown of the whole texturing process.
