Next Mass Effect Might Be Using Epic Games' MetaHuman

How to get fans excited without uttering a single word.

We know that BioWare is working on the next Mass Effect game with Deus Ex writer Mary DeMarle serving as a senior narrative director. But aside from this, there isn't much information about the project, making fans hungry for any crumbs they can get.

So when the game's director Michael Gamble hinted at the possibility of Mass Effect using Epic Games' MetaHuman, many of them got excited to get at least something.

The best (and worst) part is that Gamble didn't even say a word, but his decision to reply to Epic Games' Chris Evans does make you wonder if we'll see realistic characters in the game.

On X/Twitter, Evans asked: "Anyone creating games with MetaHumans in UE5? What are some challenges you would like us to tackle in future releases?" In the comments, Gamble left a GIF depicting Mass Effect's salarian, which might not be any kind of confirmation, of course, but why else would he post anything in this thread, right?

As I said, we don't know much about the next Mass Effect, but Windows Central's Jez Corden mentioned that he'd heard BioWare might be ditching its open-world idea in the new game.

It's not clear when we'll see its release, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be a while as it was in early development last year. Moreover, the studio is also busy with Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, which is its main focus from what I understand. The game is rumored to be out next summer. Earlier, following BioWare laying off 50 employees, it was reported that the company asked those who wanted better severance compensation to think about how it would jeopardize the development of Dreadwolf.
