The gap between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S sales is widening, according to Take-Two's recent financial report. Several months ago, it was said PS5 was ahead 3-to-1, but now, Sony has sold twice as many devices as Microsoft.
The report states that 77 million current-gen consoles had been sold by December 31, 2023. PS5 achieved 50 million units sold on December 9, so if it gained another million by the end of it, it's officially outrun Xbox 2-to-1.

The fact that PS5 is more popular than Xbox is not surprising to anyone, including Microsoft, which admitted it had "lost the console wars" last year. Evidently, the company needs another plan to compete with other makers, and rumors of Xbox games coming to PS5 surfaced not so long ago, following Xbox CFO Tim Stuart's statement about bringing Game Pass to other consoles. It was later dispelled by Phil Spencer, however, who promised to share a business update this week.
"We're listening and we hear you. We've been planning a business update event for next week, where we look forward to sharing more details with you about our vision for the future of Xbox. Stay tuned."
