Procedural Houdini-Powered Tool for Creating Buildings Demonstrated

Michalina Gąsienica-Laskowy presented a new 3D environment, showcasing a neat tool that can create buildings by merging cubes.

3D Artist Michalina Gąsienica-Laskowy, who earlier shared a comprehensive breakdown of the Sprucetuck project, impresses us once more with yet another gorgeous 3D scene. This time, the artist unveiled THE EDGE, a gloomy and atmospheric environment inspired by Roman Lutsenko's Speculum Terra THE EDGE artwork. According to the author, the scene was made using Houdini, Blender, Substance 3D Painter/Designer, Megascans, and Unreal Engine.

The main goal of the project, however, was to showcase an incredible custom-made Houdini-powered procedural tool developed by Michalina. The tool works by merging multiple cubes, separating them into roofs, walls, floors, and platforms, and then checking for interactions between them in order to create all the necessary connections. To better demonstrate how it works, the creator also shared some amazing demos, attached below.

You can learn more about the tool by checking out Michalina's original ArtStation post. Also, don't forget to join our 80 Level Talent platformour Reddit page, and our Telegram channel, follow us on Instagram and Twitter, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
