Real-Life Reference VS Animation For Indie Puzzle Game With Monster High Vibes
Ink Rose recorded herself for Noiramore Academy.
It's been a while since we last shared everyone's favorite part of character animation, the reference footage that no one in production really escapes, whether you're a small team or a big studio. For the intro cutscene of Noiramore Academy, Anastasia Snyder, better known as Ink Rose, recorded herself as the reference and shared a few comparison shots between the reference and the final animation. Superb work, so much expression in it.
If you'd like to see more reference clips for animation, check out the behind-the-scenes of Zootopia 2, as well as a few great examples from KPop Demon Hunters:
Noiramore Academy is a mystery adventure game where you play as Judith Hovern, a student who is very curious about the school's hidden secrets. After witnessing a teacher being violently kidnapped during the night, she must investigate what happened and find out who is responsible.
The game draws inspiration from Nancy Drew, Grim Fandango, and Telltale's The Walking Dead. It's set in a black-and-white fantasy world inhabited by a horned race called the Psyquine, who have telepathy and telekinesis powers. Noiramore Academy lets you explore a mysterious gothic academy in third-person view, interact with rooms, inspect objects closely, and take part in side quests and minigames.
