Silent Hill's Streets Meet Tornado Chaos In This Unreal Engine 5 Environment

Pasquale Scionti has enhanced his scene with the engine's latest features.

Pasquale Scionti, an experienced Lighting Artist whose concept gameplay for The Witcher 4, a gloomy swamp environment, a Silent Hill-inspired game prototype, an eerie abandoned hospital, a scene inspired by Death Stranding, a P.T.-like hall, or Cyberpunk 2077-inspired scene powered by MegaLights you've likely seen on 80 Level before, has showcased his latest experiments.

As is often the case with his work, the artist revisited one of his older projects, upgrading it with the latest features of Unreal Engine 5. This time, he created a new mood by bringing tornado winds to the streets of Silent Hill, powered by Unreal Engine 5.3's Lumen and Nanite. The gas station and sign were created using 3ds Max and Substance 3D Painter with Niagara particles from the Marketplace and trees sourced from Quixel, while physical-based lighting and HDR lighting with Directional Light and Volumetric Fog were also integrated to enhance the atmosphere.

Originally created with Unreal Engine 4 and inspired by games like Silent Hill, Days Gone, and State of Decay around four years ago, the environment already took on a full Silent Hill vibe last year when Pasquale experimented with fog:
