Crochet Your Own Cozy Isometric City with Cotton in This Cute Game
Cotton City by n1kozor lets you build bridges, lay roads, make houses, and plant trees that look like one big craft project.
Cotton City is a cozy city builder from n1kozor where you crochet an entire city stitch by stitch, making cotton roads, cars, and plants come to life. In the game, you become both a city planner and a city builder, creating layouts for the roads, shops, houses, and other crucial objects, and crocheting them onto the map.
Once the roads and the houses are ready, you can crochet solar panels to provide electricity, build schools, and set up a public transportation system to connect different parts of your city. You can add other public areas and services, including airports, gardens, and farmland.
As the developer shared on Reddit, all the stitches you see on the canvas are procedural geometry. Plus, the game has an optional 2.5D mode, where cached images with depth data are used for finished buildings, while 3D is reserved for moving objects in the scene.
"It's rendered in Unity, rather than using volumetric rendering. To keep it manageable, I cache and reuse geometry, use lower-detail models at a distance, and prepare geometry in the background where possible," n1kozor explained.
The game lets you choose between two modes: a strategic and a creative one. In the first mode, you have a limited amount of cotton you need to use wisely to make a fully functional, livable place. In the second one, you have unlimited resources and building options.

As the developer notes, "the cotton textures and miniature scale are central to the experience", so while you can zoom out to see the bigger picture, you get the most out of the game when you zoom in and see each little stitch being laid onto the canvas.
The game is available on Windows as an alpha demo. Because it's still an early showcase demo, there is limited content available to the players. More features and content will be coming later. Plus, as the developer stated on Discord, a macOS version is planned for the future as well.
