This Stylized Hand Animation Textured with Substance 3D Has Spider-Verse Vibes
I could watch this on a loop.
Thiago Harui, LookDev and Lighting Artist, shared on LinkedIn an animation of a hand playing with a pencil. It was made with a painterly style, using Blender, Maya, Substance 3D Painter for the texturing, and Nuke to add details to the scene.
The artist shared on ArtStation some images showing the table, which makes me imagine that the owner of the hand is an artist or someone who likes to draw, and the references he used.
Harui explained that the animation was made by Daniel Atkinson, who is a Senior Animator. I think the scene is something that could perfectly fit in a Spider-Verse movie.
The artist has really interesting projects with different styles, like this Goofy animation, which he explained was a hard project technically and emotionally, or this Salvador Dali 3D model that was a collaborative project made with Bruno Carvalho. Harui was responsible for the look dev, grooming, and skin micro details directly on the mesh.
You can also check out other impressive hand animations we have shared in the past, like Matt LeFevre's high-quality demo, Noah Li's Just the Hands project, or Nooan's animation that was enhanced with a custom comic book shader.
