Watch How This Fairytale Pond with Water Lilies Was Made in Blender

3D Artist Ramy utilized the Ucupaint add-on.

3D Artist Ramy showcased a time-lapse of creating this magnificent pond with water lilies using Blender, showing how it was shaped from a default cube into a fascinating, intricate scene.

The artist used Ucupaint, ucupumar's free Blender add-on for managing texture layers for Eevee and Cycles renderers. Ramy's work is rendered with Eevee.

Have a closer look at the still render and the WIPs:

Ramy's works feature beautiful worlds that can be described as magical realism, with soft light and atmospheric vibes. For example, check out fan art for thatgamecompany's mystery adventure Journey and other scenes:

As for Ucupaint, its latest 2.4 version added UI improvements, performance enhancements, and bug fixes compared to the prior v2.3 release. The add-on lets artists stack images, vertex attributes, generated textures, and masks into flexible, customizable channels, all built from a single node group. The tool also supports features like decal placement, real-time and vector displacement, AO baking, and more.

To see the add-on in action, check out FR3NKD's Silent Hill-like setup, in which the artist uses drivers with the Compare Height feature in Ucupaint, Viacheslav Voloshyn's WIP damaged plaster effect, and delicious pastry from 3D Artist Alice:

FR3NKD has a course on using Ucupaint, and Omar Faruq Tawsif also offers a crash course on hand-painting game assets using the add-on:
