Painterly Taoist Temple Recreated in 3D
Check out Hyojin Lee's peaceful scene.
Environment artist Hyojin Lee masterfully transferred Du Zhen's concept into their 3D project called Taoist Temple. It's hard to tell that it's 3D at first glance, with the textures looking so painterly, and this is yet another beautiful effect Unreal Engine is capable of in talented hands.
"This project was inspired by the expansive sense of space and the unique blend of color and detail in the original concept. To capture this atmosphere, I focused on fine-tuning mesh density, normal intensity, and color values throughout the asset creation and leveling stages."
The scene was brought to life with 3ds Max, Substance 3D Designer, Substance 3D Painter, ZBrush, Maya, and Unreal Engine.
Lee said that the painterly feeling was helped by adjusting the Toe value in the Post Process Volume, so if you want to add a similar look to your works, try tweaking it.
