POV: You Climb Lookout Tower To Delete Blender's Default Cube
A setup many people would love to have.
It's nice to see the tradition of deleting the default cube continuing. Suparno Panda said he spent around half a month working on this animation with strong Firewatch vibes. While most of the interior assets were downloaded, he modeled some parts himself, like the desk and kitchen countertop.
The camera movement is actually controlled by a curve. Below is an image of the curve, along with the artist's explanation of how it works:

"So the setup is as follows: Camera parented to an Empty(controls rotation), which is parented to another Empty(controls translation). The translation empty is the one that has the following path constraint targeting the curve. The curve goes from the gate to the top of the tower. I did the last part inside the cabin manually and didn't rely on the curve there.
The rest of it is just manually animating the timings according to the head turns and body turns. Keeping the translation and rotation empties separate made it easier to do so. And finally, the famous Ian Hubert Camera Shakify add-on for the walking noise on top.
Lighting was pretty simple. It's just a Blender sky texture for the outside. And for the interior, I used some light portals to allow more light into the room. Rendered the window glass separately as it was causing a lot of noise otherwise."
Suparno Panda has made a similar POV-style Blender animation before, among others:
In the lookout tower animation, Suparno uses Blender 5.2 LTS to delete the cube. It's expected to release on July 14, and we've shared a number of guides to help you get familiar with its new features, including sculpting, Thin Wall, Paint Filter, and more:
In case you missed it, Blender announced Overgrown, a feature film that aims to create an open-source resource for artists working on large-scale animated productions.
