See How Driver of Hijacked Car Fights You in This Fun Fast-Paced Vehicle Action

Drivers of the Apocalypse shows what's happening inside the car with a procedural animation.

Drivers of the Apocalypse, a "fast-paced, high-octane" vehicle action game set in a brutal, post-apocalyptic wasteland, is not as simple as it might seem. Its solo developer Jussi Kemppainen shared a look inside the car you can hijack right in the middle of the battle in a fun procedural animation.

"Many play testers asked 'why does the car I just jumped away from keep fighting me?' Well, because the original driver is there with you all the time," he said on X/Twitter.

For context, you can jump out of one vehicle into another, and its driver will not like it and, apparently, will keep trying to get the control back, albeit just visually. So when you abandon the car, the driver will start attacking you.

This little detail makes sense, although it is entirely unnecessary, but the fact that it's there shows Kemppainen's love for his creation.

"The original driver is the red character. The game is not a brawler, but vehicular combat, the in cabin struggle is just selling the fantasy that the enemy vehicles once you abandon them (you naturally capture them first) remain on the field, fighting against you."

You can follow the game's progress on the developer's X/Twitter. There you'll find a procedurally generated freight train, car painting mechanics, and a cool drone upgrade system on a CRT computer made for the project.
