Enjoy majestic Kelpie.
You can admire the proud gait of Ciri's horse Kelpie in The Witcher 4 technology demo shown at Unreal Fest thanks to Danny Chapman, a Senior Animation Programmer at Epic Games, who built Unreal Engine's new Control Rig physics "to drive Kelpie’s accessories and hair," as Epic's Senior Technical Product Manager Chase Cooper revealed in his recent post on LinkedIn.
You can see the details of the "skeleton" in the video above and enjoy the work poured into the technology to make the next Witcher hopefully as iconic as its predecessor.
Built on Unreal Engine 5.6, the tech demo, as we learned later, had no actual gameplay, but I'm sure the real deal is as great as the renders.
The Witcher 4 is in full production, but don't expect to play it before 2027. Inspired by Kingdom Come and Baldur's Gate 3, it will be CDPR's "most advanced" project.
