Jonathon Gregory Bick unveiled a new collection of concepts for his Hinterlands series.
Senior Environment Artist at Rockstar Games Jonathon Gregory Bick has recently presented several spectacular 3D concepts, providing one more look at the Hinterlands series, the artist's personal collection of 3D environments inspired by Dark Souls and Elden Ring.
Created to practice environment art workflows and improve artistic skills, the newly unveiled concepts depict not just one, not two, but nearly a dozen stunning scenes, as well as some characters, that have now become a part of the series.
Moreover, the creator also expanded the Hinterlands lore by providing some text descriptions, short stories, and location names for most of the new collection's concepts. "The Dierrdeck Departed Mercenary Company is forever cursed and pursued by spirits, even in their accursed state they wander the land in search of salvation," reads the description of the artwork attached below:
As for the software, the artist utilized a combination of Maya, ZBrush, Substance 3D Designer, Marmoset Toolbag, Marvelous Designer, Houdini, SpeedTree, and Unreal Engine 5 to bring the concepts to life.
And here are some of the earlier projects in the Hinterlands series:
