However, its physical sales are much lower than Final Fantasy 15's.
Final Fantasy XVI was released on June 22 for PlayStation 5 and managed to top the UK's physical sales chart.
As GamesIndustry.biz's Christopher Dring noted, the game's physical launch was bigger than Diablo 4’s and Dead Island 2’s (despite them being released for multiple platforms) but worse than the first-week sales of Resident Evil 4, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Hogwarts Legacy, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
At the same time, Final Fantasy XVI sold 74% fewer physical copies than Final Fantasy 15 on its launch day in 2016.
Here are the top 10 games of the previous week:
- Final Fantasy XVI
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
- Sonic Origins Plus
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
- F1 23
- God of War Ragnarok
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Diablo IV
- Hogwarts Legacy
- FIFA 23
This is just physical sales data, the digital launch numbers will be revealed later and might show a different result.
