Create Fake 3D Objects From One Texture With This Godot Tool
It's free.
This new tool by VitSoonYoung is essentially a Godot 4 node that creates a fake 3D sprite stack from a single sheet of pixel-art face views. According to the developer, it works by stacking and interpolating layers from the bottom up, then adding a pixelated render to smooth out the hard edges.
To use it, make a 2x2 spritesheet with four views: top, front, side, and back. Keep all frames the same size, and you can leave the back frame empty to mirror the front view. Download SpriteStack2D, extract it into your Godot project, and enable the add-on. Then add a SpriteStack2D node, assign your spritesheet, and the grid will be set automatically.
SpriteStack2D is released under the MIT license and can be downloaded here.

Godot has been getting a lot of love lately, and if it's your game engine of choice, we recommend keeping an eye on the progress of the Unreal Engine-inspired material layering tool and checking out the Godot Road Generator.
For those looking to get started with the engine, GodotGameLab teaches a component-based approach to game development, how to create a Slay the Spire-style deckbuilder, and build an autobattler. Meanwhile, The GameDev Tavern has recently started a new series showing how to create a full 3D dungeon crawler from scratch.
