This Abandoned Orphanage Environment Will Give You Spooky but Nostalgic Vibes

I would love to explore this place.

This project by Ana Vien started as a simple corridor, but slowly became the environment for an abandoned orphanage. The artist shared the creation process on her ArtStation profile.

Vien ended up adding a bedroom, a grand hall, and a piano with a lot of details. She used Blender, ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter, Substance 3D Designer, Photoshop, Marmoset Toolbag, Marvelous Designer, and Unreal Engine.

The more you look at the shots, the more details you find. The paintings on the walls, the windows, the stained curtains, the leaves on the floor, and the scattered chairs. All of this creates a very immersive scene.

This image makes you wonder what happened to the children, why they left some of their belongings and the chalk on the floor.

Here is a video showing an overview of the environment:

The artist explained that it took her two weeks to create the piano, and it was the most challenging asset she made because of how it's made on the inside. The result is very detailed and beautiful.

Check out some of the references the artist used for the piano and other elements of the scene:

Check out these images that show the assets that also have an abandoned and old appearance:

Last year, we shared a picturesque river village that was made by Ana Vien using Blender, ZBrush, Marmoset Toolbag, Substance 3D Painter, and Unreal Engine.

Check out other environments we have shared of abandoned places, like Sorashido's building scene that shows an apartment complex full of graffiti and garbage, Enzo Lorenzi-Kohut's design of a church hidden in the forest, or Connor Brandenburger's Sanctuary Without Its Keeper project that's full of nature.
