Their website does say that you can pay per image at $1 per image. I am in the opposite boat though. I could see this having a very significant effect on photogrammetry but I would need to process a few thousand images at a time which would not be very feasible with their current pricing model

OMFG....PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!

To the developers. A very promising piece of software for a VFX supervisor like me. BUT, please reconsider your pricing tiers and introduce a per-image price. We are a pretty large facility, but I can only imagine needing about 1-10 images a month at the very most. It's like HDRI's - we buy them all the time, one at a time. They need to be individually billed so a producer can charge them against a particular job.

Creators of V-Ray have acquired the makers of the now quite popular renderer Corona

Today is a big day for visualization. We are excited to welcome Ondra, Adam, Jaroslav and the entire Render Legion team to Chaos Group! Corona is fast, it’s easy to use, and renders beautifully. From the beginning, our mission has been to help all artists and designers visualize anything they can imagine, and to push the boundaries of what rendering can do. Render Legion shares this same vision and together we believe that great visualization benefits us all.

The first thing you should know is both Corona and V-Ray are here to stay. Both products will continue to be developed independently by the same teams that you’ve come to trust, with the same level of innovation that you’ve come to expect. Now we can share ideas, research and technology to make both renderers as powerful as possible.

One advantage of being an independent company is you get to choose your own path. What’s exciting about Render Legion is they come from that same mindset, which makes it easy for us to work towards the same vision. Together, we’ll continue our commitment to the industry and to our communities.

Both companies will continue working on updating Corona and V-Ray. For example, V-ray’s DMC sampler will be in Corona 1.7, and developers are optimizing V-Ray’s dome light with the help of the Render Legion team. The development team behind Corona will remain in the Czech Republic. There will also be a continuous sharing of technology between the two products to make both products better.
