Cyberpunk 2077 Quest Director Explained the Lack of Police Chases

The quest director of Cyberpunk 2077 Pawel Sasko responded to criticism and tried to justify why the police car chases are missing in the game.

In the latest community stream, the quest director of Cyberpunk 2077 Pawel Sasko clarified why the game lacks car or police chase sequences.

Handling the enemy AI system seems pretty strange in Cyberpunk 2077 – it's nothing like the GTA police chases: you aren't followed by the police cars around the city. Police just appear out of nowhere and start firing off, never actually chasing you in a vehicle. However, many gamers consider the feature of police car chase sequences being necessary "in every other open-world game".

In a recent Cyberpunk 2077 live stream, Sasko responded to criticism about the lack of police chases. He explained that the feature was dropped due to time and technical limitations. He also added that not all open-world games have this option, bringing up the upcoming Sonic and Elder Ring as the games with no police chases.

Sasko also implied that CDPR initially intended to have a kind of chase system in Cyberpunk 2077, but they ultimately shut down the idea in development. "It's not that we didn't make it because we didn't want to, it's just simply like, there are some reasons, you know, that basically prevented us from actually being able to deliver this," he explained.

Just like Anthem they tried maximizing hype for dollar output with no solid plan on delivering. And people still bought the game so this behavior will still continue. Welcome to the lack luster open world of consumerism.
