Former Battlefield Creative Director Reveals a New Studio, TTK Games

The team is currently working on a next-gen online shooter developed with Unreal Engine.

Lars Gustavsson, the former creative director of Battlefield, has announced the formation of a new studio, TTK Games (Time To Kill Games).

Stockholm, Sweden-based TTK Games has been co-founded by four former members of DICE. Joining Gustavsson, who will take on the role of CEO and creative director, are Daniel Berlin, Vidar Nygren, and Peter Hoyles.

Berlin, who previously held positions as lead world designer and design director on Battlefield, will assume the role of senior design director. Vidar Nygren, who served as technical director on Battlefield, will take on the roles of chief technical officer and technical director at the new studio. And Peter Hoyles, formerly the studio art director at DICE LA, will join as the art director of the team.

The studio is currently made up of seven people but plans to grow its team to between 80 and 120 employees. According to TTK Games, it has "secured significant funding coupled with creative freedom" and is now developing a next-gen online shooter that will be powered by Unreal Engine.

"For players, the phrase 'Time to Kill' defines how a shooter feels and how fast it plays," Gustavsson said.

"We’ve made it our studio name and part of our studio culture. For us the term 'TTK' isn’t just about the craftmanship behind finding the perfect speed or immediacy of a game – it’s about how human beings have been killing time through play for thousands of years."
