Genshin Impact Gets Best First-Year Revenue Beating Fortnite & GTA 5

Free-to-play action game Genshin Impact is now the leader among the highest-grossing games in their first year. New data states the game managed to beat other well-known titans including GTA 5 and Fortnite.

It is reported that an estimated revenue reached a point somewhere between $2.3 and 3.7 billion which means Genshin Impact outperformed Fortnite's first-year revenue by nearly $1 billion. The data was shared on the Gacha Gaming subreddit by user Otaku_User32. The $3.7 billion number is not confirmed but the projection is based on China's enormous mobile gaming market which accounts for nearly 60% of the game's revenue.

The game has reportedly been downloaded 17 million times in early 2021 with the number of active users reaching an all-time high of 11 million active monthly users in July.
