IO Interactive Had a Record-Breaking Year Driven by Hitman 3 Sales

The studio got $78 million in profit which is a 136% increase compared to the previous year.

Hitman developer IO Interactive shared its annual report for 2020/21 revealing the team had record-breaking profits during the last fiscal year. During the year ending March 31, 2021, the company generated DKK 502 million ($78 million) which is a 136% increase compared to the DKK 212.8 million ($33 million) they got a year before that.

The report notes that the profit was largely driven by the launch of Hitman 3 in January 2021, which sold 300% of the game's initial sales budget.

IO currently has several projects in the works, including live content for Hitman 3 and a new James Bond game. What are your thoughts on the latest Hitman entry? Should they continue the story?

How depressing. Just goes to show that people will accept incredibly intrusive DRM if you give it a veneer of credibility by claiming it's a live service game.
