Isotropix Revealed Angie

Have a look at a new hybrid CPU/GPU rendering engine.

Isotropix shared a preview of Angie, their next-gen hybrid CPU/GPU rendering engine which will be released next year in Clarisse iFX and Clarisse Builder.

The team noted that Angie is up to 10x faster” compared to the current version of Clarisse when rendering on the CPU. Using current top-of-the-range workstation processors is said to provide over 2x faster rendering times.

The team presented a demo with a 450-billion-triangle test scene of the city of Florence created by Industrial Light & Magic artist Mickael Riciotti. The demo was running on a current top-of-the-range 64-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X CPU and Nvidia Quadro RTX 8000 GPU.

Using CPU alone takes 231 seconds, while GPU alone takes 150 seconds. Using both CPU and GPU decreases time spent to 99 seconds (2.3x faster than CPU and 1.5x faster than GPU).
