Subway Surfers Co-Developer Kiloo Games Is Reportedly Shutting Down

According to the studio's employees, staff was "served with a warning about termination by the end of the month."

Danish studio Kiloo Games, the co-developer of Subway Surfers, is reportedly shutting down.

Although the company has not officially announced its closure, as reported by Game Developer, several employees from Kiloo have confirmed the news on LinkedIn. They have shared that the entire studio has been informed about the termination of their employment, which will be effective by the end of the month.

Kiloo was established in 2000 by Jacob Møller, with his brother Simon later joining him in running the company. As stated on the studio's website, Kiloo currently has a workforce of over 55 people.

The studio gained significant recognition as the co-developer of Subway Surfers (alongside SYBO), the popular endless runner released in 2012. However, Kiloo's involvement with the game ended in 2020, with SYBO assuming sole responsibilities for its development and management ever since.

In addition to Subway Surfers, Kiloo has an extensive history as a mobile developer, creating games for various notable franchises, including titles for Lego, Happy Tree Friends, Hugo the Troll, and the mobile adaptation of Kane & Lynch: Dead Men.
